Manage episodes

Episodes are the containers that hold your scripts. In a TV Series, each episode maps to one episode of the show. For a Feature Film or Short, you use a single episode to hold the whole screenplay. This article covers creating, renaming, archiving, and restoring episodes.

Before you start

  • You have the Admin role (or are the project Owner) to create, rename, or archive episodes.
  • A TV Series project is selected. The Episode selector appears in the top bar only for TV Series; it is hidden for Feature Film and Short projects, which use one episode automatically.

Find the episode controls

For a TV Series, the Episode selector sits in the top bar, to the left of the Project selector. It shows the current episode as its number and title. Open it to switch episodes and to reach the management actions: Episode Settings, Add Episode, and Show Archived.

Switch episodes

Open the Episode selector and choose an episode. The viewer loads that episode’s scripts and shows its default or most recent revision. Each row has a star — select it to mark that episode as the project default.

Add an episode

  1. Open the Episode selector and choose Add Episode.
  2. In the Add Episode dialog, fill in:
    • Title — the episode title (for example, “Pilot”). Required.
    • Season — the season number, with − and + steppers. Pre-filled.
    • Episode Number — pre-filled with the next available number for the season.
  3. Select Add Episode.

The new episode appears in the selector and becomes active, ready for you to upload a script to it. If that season and episode number already exist, SceneItAll blocks the save and tells you.

Rename an episode

  1. Select the episode you want to rename, then open the Episode selector and choose Episode Settings.
  2. Edit the Title field.
  3. Select Save.

Archive an episode

Archiving removes an episode from the active list without deleting it.

  1. Select the episode, then open the Episode selector and choose Episode Settings.
  2. Select Archive Episode.

The episode moves to the archived list and disappears from the selector.

Restore an archived episode

  1. Open the Episode selector and choose Show Archived.
  2. In the Archived Episodes dialog, find the episode and select Restore.

The episode returns to the active list. (Archived script revisions are handled separately — see Manage script revisions.)
