AI Synopsis Generation

Synopsis generation creates brief scene summaries automatically, saving you the time of writing them by hand. Synopses are useful for call sheets, production reports, and quick reference during scheduling.

How It Works

The AI reads each scene’s screenplay text and produces a concise summary capturing the key action, characters involved, and narrative purpose.

Running Synopsis Generation

  1. Go to the Breakdown section.
  2. Select one or more scenes using the checkboxes.
  3. Click the AI Tools dropdown.
  4. Select “Synopsis Generation”.
  5. The AI processes the selected scenes in the background.

Reviewing Results

AI-generated synopses appear in each scene’s detail view in the Synopsis field. They’re marked with status badges:

  • “AI” badge (gray) — Generated by AI, not yet reviewed or edited.
  • “Reviewed” badge (green with checkmark) — Manually edited after generation.

Editing AI Synopses

Type directly in the synopsis field to modify the AI’s output. Once you make any change, the badge updates from “AI” to “Reviewed.”

Reverting to AI Version

If you’ve edited a synopsis but want the original AI version back:

  1. Click the three-dot menu next to the synopsis label.
  2. Select “Revert to AI Draft”.
  3. Confirm in the dialog that appears.

Your edits will be replaced with the original AI-generated text.

Tips

  • Generate synopses in batch by selecting multiple scenes for faster processing.
  • AI synopses are a starting point. Edit them to match your production’s style and level of detail.
  • Synopses are especially useful for ADs building daily schedules and for producers reviewing script coverage.
