Managing Episodes

Managing Episodes

Episodes are the top-level organizational unit for scripts. In a TV series, each episode holds one or more script revisions. For a film, you might use a single episode to contain the entire screenplay.

Prerequisites

  • You must be logged in and belong to a project.
  • Admin permissions are required to create, rename, or archive episodes.

The Episode Panel

On screens 900px or wider, the episode panel appears on the left side of the Scripts section. It shows:

  • An “Add Episode” button at the top.
  • A scrollable list of all active episodes, each showing its number and title.
  • A footer with “Archived” and “Scripts Settings” buttons.

Each episode can be expanded to reveal the scripts (revisions) it contains.

Creating an Episode

  1. Click “Add Episode” at the top of the episode panel.
  2. In the dialog, fill in:
    • Season number (pre-filled with a default).
    • Episode number (pre-filled with the next available number).
  3. Click Create.

The new episode appears in the episode list and is ready for scripts to be uploaded to it.

Selecting an Episode

Click an episode in the panel to select it. The script viewer updates to show the scripts belonging to that episode. If the episode has revisions, the most recent one loads automatically.

Renaming an Episode

  1. Right-click or use the overflow menu on an episode.
  2. Select Rename.
  3. Enter the new title in the dialog.
  4. Click Save.

Archiving an Episode

Archiving removes an episode from the active list without deleting it.

  1. Use the overflow menu on the episode you want to archive.
  2. Select Archive.

The episode moves to the archived section.

Viewing and Restoring Archived Items

  1. Click “Archived” in the episode panel footer.
  2. The panel switches to show two sections:
    • Archived Episodes — Full episodes that were archived.
    • Archived Revisions — Individual script revisions that were archived.
  3. To restore an item, click the Restore button on it.

The restored item reappears in the active episode list.

Tips

  • On smaller screens (under 900px), the episode panel is not visible. You can select episodes through other navigation methods.
  • Archiving is reversible — you can always restore archived episodes and revisions.
  • Scripts are always tied to an episode. Create at least one episode before uploading scripts.
