Conflict Detection

Conflict Detection

SceneItAll can detect scheduling conflicts — issues where your schedule violates production rules such as turnaround requirements, daily hour limits, or element availability.

Running Conflict Detection

  1. Click the shield icon in the strip board toolbar.
  2. The system analyzes the active scenario.
  3. A toast notification shows the results: how many new conflicts were found and how many were auto-resolved.

Conflicts appear as red badges on affected day banners and strip tiles.

Viewing Conflicts

On Day Banners

A red badge with a count appears on day banners that have conflicts. Click the badge to open the conflict detail modal.

On Strip Tiles

Strips involved in a conflict show up to two conflict badges with tooltips explaining the issue.

Conflict Detail Modal

Click any conflict badge to see:

  • Conflict title and description
  • Severity level (error, warning, info)
  • Affected strips and elements
  • Suggested resolution

You can resolve, ignore, or add notes to any conflict from this modal.

Configuring Conflict Rules

Conflict rules live in Global Settings → Schedule, under the Conflict detection leaf. Open Global Settings from the settings cog (in the sidebar, or the top bar on phones), then select the Schedule section.

Timing Thresholds

Adjust numeric values for turnaround hours, daily hours, weekly hours, meal break timing, and travel buffer.

Day Warnings

Toggle 6th and 7th day warnings on or off.

Element Checks

Toggle element availability and permit expiry checks.

Per-Element Overrides

Some elements may have different rules (e.g., a minor with shorter maximum hours). Click “Edit” next to an element to set custom thresholds that override the project-wide rules.

Conflict Severity

SeverityMeaning
Error (red)A hard rule violation that must be resolved
Warning (amber)A soft limit that should be reviewed
Info (blue)An informational note

Tips

  • Run conflict detection after major schedule changes (moving scenes, adding days).
  • Start with the default rules and adjust as your production’s labor agreements require.
  • Use per-element overrides for minors, animals, or other elements with special requirements.
