Creating or Joining a Project

Creating or Joining a Project

Everything in SceneItAll lives inside a project. A project represents a single production — a film, a TV series, or a season of a show. Before you can upload scripts or manage crew, you need to either create a project or join one that already exists.

If You Have No Projects

When you first log in and don’t belong to any projects, you land on a welcome screen showing the SceneItAll logo and the message “Create a new project or join one you’ve been invited to.” From here you have two paths:

  • Create Project — The blue Create Project button (with a + icon) starts a new production from scratch.
  • Join a project you were invited to — There is no “join” button or project code to type. Instead, ask a project Owner or Admin to send you an invite link, then open that link in your browser to join. See Joining via an invite link below.

Creating a New Project

  1. Click Create Project — on the welcome screen (the blue + Create Project button), or at any time from the project selector pill in the top bar.
  2. The Create Project dialog opens with three fields:
    • Project Name (required) — the internal name you’ll see in the project selector (e.g., “Midnight Express S2”).
    • Production Name (optional) — the production’s display title; used on reports and call sheets if set.
    • Project Type (required) — a three-way toggle: Feature Film, TV Series, or Short. Defaults to Feature Film. Choosing TV Series turns on episode management (an episode selector appears in the top bar); Feature Film and Short hide the episode selector.
  3. Click Create.

You’ll be the Owner of this project, which gives you full control over settings, members, and all content. See Roles and permissions.

SceneItAll has no project-code entry. Joining is always link-based:

  1. A project Owner or Admin opens the Invite button in the top bar, picks the role to grant you (Admin, Member, or Viewer) and an expiry, and generates an invite link.
  2. They share that link with you (the URL looks like https://app.sceneitall.pro/join/<token>).
  3. You open the link in your browser. After signing in, you’ll see the project details and an option to accept and join.

Once you accept, the project appears in your project selector.

Switching Between Projects

If you belong to multiple projects, you can switch between them at any time:

  1. Click the project selector pill in the top bar (it shows your current project name).
  2. A dropdown menu appears listing all your projects.
  3. Click the project you want to switch to.

The entire app updates to show data for the selected project — scripts, episodes, crew, everything.

Tips

  • You can create another project at any time from the project selector pill in the top bar, not just from the welcome screen.
  • Each project is fully isolated. Members, scripts, and crew from one project are never visible in another — nothing carries between projects automatically.
