Renumbering Cast
The Renumber Cast feature lets you assign new sequential numbers to all cast members in a single operation, instead of editing each one individually.
Opening the Dialog
- Go to the Crew section and select the Cast List tab.
- Click the “Renumber Cast” button in the header.
Configuration
The dialog provides three settings:
Start At
The number to begin counting from. Default is 1.
Step
The increment between consecutive numbers. Default is 1.
For example, with Start=1 and Step=1, cast members are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4… With Start=100 and Step=10, they’re numbered 100, 110, 120, 130…
Order
How cast members should be sorted before numbering:

| Current Order | Keeps the existing sort order from the cast list |
| Alphabetical | Sorts by name (A-Z) before numbering |
| By Scene Count | Sorts by number of scenes (most to fewest) before numbering |
Applying
- Set your preferred Start, Step, and Order.
- Click “Renumber”.
- A confirmation toast appears: “Renumbered X cast member(s).”
The cast list updates immediately with the new numbers.
Tips
- By Scene Count is useful when you want principal cast (who appear in the most scenes) to have the lowest numbers.
- Use a step of 10 if you expect to add cast members later and want room to insert them between existing numbers.
- Both Start and Step must be at least 1.
