Synopsis
Synopsis
Every scene in SceneItAll can have a synopsis — a brief summary of what happens. Synopses help your team quickly understand scene content without reading the full screenplay text. You can write them manually or let the AI generate them.
Prerequisites
- You need a parsed script with scenes.
Writing a Synopsis Manually
- Open a scene’s detail view.
- Find the Synopsis field in the metadata section of the detail panel.
- Type your summary directly into the text field.
- Changes are saved automatically after a brief pause (500ms debounce).
The synopsis field supports multiple lines and has no strict length limit, but keep it concise — a few sentences that capture the key action and purpose of the scene.
AI-Generated Synopses
SceneItAll can generate synopses using AI.
Generating Synopses
- In the breakdown overview, select one or more scenes.
- Click the AI Tools dropdown.
- Select “Synopsis Generation”.
- The AI processes the selected scenes in the background.
When complete, AI-generated synopses appear in each scene’s detail view.
Reviewing AI Synopses
AI-generated synopses are marked with status badges:
- “AI” badge (gray) — The synopsis was generated by AI and hasn’t been reviewed or edited yet.
- “Reviewed” badge (green with checkmark) — The synopsis has been manually edited after AI generation.
Editing an AI Synopsis
Simply type in the synopsis field to modify the AI-generated text. Once you make any change, the badge updates from “AI” to “Reviewed.”
Tips
- Synopses are useful for daily call sheets, production reports, and quick reference during scheduling.
- AI-generated synopses are a starting point. Edit them to match your production’s preferred style and level of detail.
- You can generate synopses in batch by selecting multiple scenes in the breakdown overview.
