Copy Breakdowns
Copy Breakdowns
When you upload a new revision of a script, the scenes may be similar to the previous version but the element breakdowns don’t carry over automatically. The Copy Breakdowns feature lets you copy element assignments from one revision to another.
How It Works
Copy Breakdowns takes element tagging from a source revision and applies it to matching scenes in the current revision. Scenes are matched by scene number — if Scene 5 exists in both revisions, its elements are copied.
Using Copy Breakdowns
- In the Breakdown overview, click the Copy Breakdowns button in the header.
- The dialog opens showing:
- Source revision selector — A dropdown listing all other revisions of the current script. Each option shows the revision color dot, color name, version, and scene count.
- Select the source revision you want to copy from.
- Click “Copy Breakdowns”.
What Gets Copied
- All element assignments (which elements are tagged to which scenes) from the source revision.
- Elements are matched by scene number between source and target.
After Copying
A toast notification confirms the result:
- Success: “X elements copied across Y scenes.”
- No matches: “No matching scenes found” — this happens if the scene numbers between revisions don’t overlap.
Tips
- Copy Breakdowns is most useful immediately after uploading a new revision, before you start modifying the breakdown.
- Only elements are copied, not crew assignments or synopses.
- Scenes are matched by number. If scene numbers changed between revisions (e.g., scenes were added or removed), some elements may not copy.
- After copying, review the breakdown to add new elements for any new scenes and remove elements that no longer apply.
